Melissa Rivers is suing and plans to file a multimillion-dollar lawsuit

Joan Rivers daughter Melissa Rivers, 47 wants to know what went wrong. She has now hired a lawyer and will sue.

Melissa was on ' The Wendy Williams Show ' and talked about the lawsuit that she has against the New York City clinic.

Her mother died a week later after the procedure happened. She lost the ability to breathe during a routine throat procedure. The procedure was preventable.

On September 14, 2014 is the day Joan Rivers passed away. Rivers was a comedian, actress, television host. She was 81 years old.

According to the medical examiner, She died of low blood oxygen to her brain and was sedated with propofol before her death . This had caused her heart to stop.


On August 28, the procedure was done at the Yorkville Endoscopy in Manhattan where she was in cardiac arrest. Then, was taken to a close-by hospital. Days later , Melissa had confirmed to the public that her mother was in the hospital and on life support.

Now a couple months later, Melissa is doing all that she can do to find answers. “Fully determine all of the facts and circumstances surrounding the death of Joan Rivers", said resepresentatives for Melissa Rivers who told E! News.


Forbes wrote in a article about the situation: " Once an executor is appointed and the medical records are ordered and analyzed, a lawsuit can be filed alleging medical malpractice and wrongful death. Once such a lawsuit is begun, then Melissa’s attorneys can examine the doctors, nurses, and others present for the surgery, under oath in depositions, to discover what really happened".
